Shipping Terms and Conditions

  • We ship through multiple carriers including Canada Post to get the best rates for our customers. All “*Free shipping” purchase amounts to qualify for free shipping are calculated before shipping and taxes.
  • Address Errors / Unclaimed Parcels: If an item is returned to us as unclaimed or because an incorrect or incomplete address is provided by the customer the customer will be responsible for the actual shipping costs to have the item returned to us and back to the customer. Common address errors include a missing buzz code, PO Box number or apartment number. This information must appear in the ship to address, not in the comments section. Once an order is shipped it is not possible to have Canada Post make any changes or corrections to the shipping address. Some couriers will allow address changes at a cost of up to $25.00 per parcel.

*FREE SHIPPING RATE EXCEPTIONS INCLUDE: Livestock, Aquariums & Aquarium kits, Gravel, Salt, items over 24" long, orders over 25kg, and a few other heavy/over-sized items. We will communicate any additional shipping charges via email.

Dry Goods:

Processing Time: Most orders are processed and shipped within 1-2 business days pending payment card approval. Orders placed on weekends or holidays will not be processed for at least one business day.

Order Errors or Modifications: In an effort to keep orders moving smoothly, we do not allow for any additions or modifications to an order once it is placed. If you would like to cancel an order you must contact us as soon as possible. We are unable to cancel orders once they are processed for shipping.

Inventory: We do our best to have accurate inventory counts, although there may be times when an order is placed that an item may sell in our retail store before we remove it from stock to fulfill your order. In this event we will contact you to discuss alternatives.

Shipping Delays: Any delays in shipping or losses through shipping are out of our control and therefore not our responsibility. In the rare event you do not receive your shipment you must follow up with the carrier to recover any product or moneys lost.

Climate: Due to potentially freezing temperatures, we can not be held responsible for any leaking, broken or frozen liquids or test kits during the winter season. It is very rare for any liquid items to freeze unless they are under 500ml (16oz.) and, or they are being shipped during extremely cold weather or to a remote, northern destination.

 

We ship livestock across Canada only:

  • We ship livestock although we do not currently list any on our website due to inventory management complexities. Please contact us with the livestock you are interested in, and we will be happy to assist you.
  • For livestock orders, we have a minimum order value of $200 before taxes and shipping charges. We cannot ship dry goods with your livestock order. Shipping charges are generally a minimum of $45-$100 per box depending on location, please be aware of this prior to placing your order.
  • We ship livestock within Canada only, through overnight courier, we do not ship by air since our local airport does not have a cargo department.
  • After placing your order for fish, we will calculate the appropriate shipping charge and send you an invoice for payment. Once paid we will plan a shipping day. We only ship livestock out Monday to Wednesday for next day delivery. Orders must be placed a minimum of three days prior to shipping day for us to prepare your fish for shipping.
  • We charge a $10 box fee per box on livestock orders plus $2 for heat packs when required. When available we may make use of boxes that have been previously used, this keeps the cost down for you and is better for the environment.

We guarantee your order will Arrive Alive subject to details outlined below.

  • If a delivery is late or lost due to the carrier, weather, or any other unforeseen issues out of our control we will not be held responsible for any losses.
  • Shipping livestock in temperatures above 30 degrees C and below -10 degrees C is riskier and therefore our Arrive Alive policy does not apply should temperatures through the day or evening exceed these limits.
  • We take every precaution in packing your fish for a safe arrival regardless of ambient temperature and losses are very rare.
  • Credit for DOA (Dead On Arrival) fish will be issued in the form of credit towards future purchases. Credit is issued for DOA fish only, not shipping charges.

WHAT IS ARRIVE ALIVE?

  • Arrive Alive means that when the fish arrive at your door, and you open the box the fish will be alive in the bags. We only ship healthy fish! Once the bags are opened the guarantee is no longer valid.
  • You must be available to receive your shipment when they arrive to prevent them from enduring extended time in the bag and sitting outside.
  • Should you have a DOA, which is very rare, you must contact us within 2 hours of pickup or delivery with a short video of the fish in the bag. If a video is not possible you can take pictures of the fish in the sealed bag followed by a picture of the fish with its tail fin cut off. Please send messages and photos by email.

  • We accept payment by EMT email money transfer, and most credit and debit cards.
